Personal Info
Anthony Guppy was born in Trinidad & Tobago, which is also the birth
place of the steel pan. His interest in the steel pan started through the influ-
ences of his elder brothers, mainly Herman Guppy - ranked among the
best manufacturers and Master Tuners of the steel pan instrument.
Anthony first started playing steel pan in Herman's steelband
in Laventille ; the members consisted of family and friends.
Herman is also the one that introduced the steel pan to
Anthony and other members of the family.

Guppy a self-taught musician has acquired a lot of his musical knowledge
from working and performing with some of the top music entertainers in Trinidad
; Terrance Shaw, Calypso legend 'Aldwyn Roberts' also known as the "Grand master
of calypso". "Steelpan Legends" such as Len 'boogsie' Sharpe ; Rudy Smith, Earl
Rodney and Jazz pianist Ralph Davies to name a few.
Guppy is a past winner of the the prestigious national"Pan Ramajay contest"
(Steelpan Improvisation contest) in Trinidad & Tobago .
Also represented Trinidad & tobago at the"20th International Trade Fair" held in
Bogata, Columbia (Soloist).
He has performed at Events and Music festivals in all corners of the World.
Some of the places guppy has toured includes (USA);Florida, Houston, California,
New-york, Las Vegas, Mexico (Europe) ; Germany , sweden, Denmark, Asia and
South America and japan.
2006 Guppy released his debut Album "Another Side Of Me" which was recoreded in
Okinawa, and is now being sold in stores throughout Japan.
Guppy has also appeared on Radio and television programs in Japan. 2006 he appeared
on a Japanese Documentary program (Sky perfectTV)about Trinidad & Tobago Music,
culture and Soccer Team, Soca worriors.
Guppy is also a member of the band "Crystal Jazz Latino" (based in Tokyo) lead
by Japan's famous Latin Jazz bassist Takahashi Getao.
Lately Guppy has been performing with some of Japan`s leading musicians such as
; Murakami "Ponta" Shuichi, Wada Akira, Hideaki Kanazawa, Shiho (Fried Pride),
Matsuoka Naoya, Gen Ogimi, Carlos Kanno, Hiroyuki Noritake, Dairo Miyamoto
(pink Bongo) and others.
